The Annual Red and White Ball honors the San Beda spirit, which fostered Bedan exemplars that have contributed to the long-standing glorious history of transforming society, the nation, and the global community.

The featured event was a recurring tradition for distinguished Bedans who significantly improved their particular fields of endeavor and contributed to the life of the Filipino people. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the customary Red and White Ball to be suspended from 2021 to 2023. This year serves as the continuation of honoring outstanding Bedans and celebrating Bedan Pride and Glory.

Distinguished Bedan Awards: A Salute to the Greatness of the Bedan Spirit

Commenced last February 1, 2024 on a Thursday evening, hosted by the San Beda University Alumni Association Inc., together with the San Beda College Alumni Foundation, Inc. and San Beda University Manila, and our dear Bedan Alumni were chosen to receive the Distinguished Bedan Awards for their exemplary service and leadership in their respective professional fields. Featured also were the esteemed Board of Trustees, namely,

Mukesh β€œMike” S. Advani, Atty. Dominador β€œJimmy” Dungca Buhain, Tomax β€œButch” P. Africa, Geoffrey L. Go, Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, Jorge Z. Ortoll, and Dr. Conrado S. Oca.

In addition to being the President of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Inc., is an enthusiastic fan of the San Beda Red Lions.

Dr. Conrado Oca, the former president of SBUAA, was honored for his several noteworthy achievements in Bedan education. Dr. Oca, a medical administrator with extensive expertise and a true Bedan, is a “giver” to many Bedans, providing support to numerous scholars throughout all academic divisions of San Beda. The only heart that can genuinely “pay back and give without expecting anything in return” is that of a Bedan, such as Dr. Conrad, who has been profoundly affected by God’s abounding gifts.

Tomas “Butch” P. Africa, another highly respected Bedan, was recognized for his many years of devoted dedication to Bedan education. He serves as the San Beda College Alumni Foundation’s (SBCAF) vice president. He was one of the founders of SBCAF and, since the organization’s founding in 1998, has contributed his knowledge, skill, and devotion to the organization. Mr. Africa served as the Philippines’ Civil Registrar General and Administrator of the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Longtime SBCAF Board Trustee Geoffrey L. Go was honored for his committed work service. While the SBCAF is full of servant-leaders, Mr. Go is one Bedan who has truly demonstrated loyalty to the goal of serving God, San Beda, and the country. Without a doubt, Mr. Go has fulfilled his several demanding obligations in the SBCAF with remarkable skill.

Atty. Dominador “Jimmy” Dungca Buhain is another accomplished, generous, and committed Bedan deserving of everyone’s applause. He has served as the San Beda University Alumni Association’s (SBUAA) president for a long time. He has been President since, and the SUAA has achieved a great deal as a group.
